Although the subject is still taboo, there's no denying the fact that this child has two moms. I'm not sure what my school's policy would be on reading a book like this, but personally I'm torn. I feel that this child is constantly bombarded with books that have families different from his, and one of these books would be encouraging to remind him that he's not the only kid like that. But, like you said, it's definitely a controversial issue and would probably upset some parents. I'd say you would have to know the community and classroom climate and gauge based on those. I'd wouldn't bother reading those books if you don't have a child in that situation, but if you do, I'd seriously consider it.</content><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/21864959/116563411415476112/comments/default/116589834343054787'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/21864959/116563411415476112/comments/default/116589834343054787'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://technologyteaches.blogspot.com/2006/12/how-young-is-too-young.html?showComment=1165898340000#c116589834343054787' title=''/><author><name>jfccrunner</name><uri>http://www.blogger.com/profile/17468802945515533619</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email></author><thr:in-reply-to xmlns:thr='http://purl.org/syndication/thread/1.0' href='http://technologyteaches.blogspot.com/2006/12/how-young-is-too-young.html' ref='tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21864959.post-116563411415476112' source='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/21864959/posts/default/116563411415476112' type='text/html'/></entry></feed>
